Jimmy Gaspero is a writer, podcaster, and attorney from Delaware County — “Delco” — Pennsylvania. He came up through the indie comics circuit writing short-form stories for anthologies: Bi Visibility #1 (Lifeline Comics, 2021), Band of Bards: From the Static, Tales of the Bizarre, and Comics from the Kitchen (Foreign Press Comics, ~2023; his story “It’s Not Just a Meatball” was built around his father’s meatball recipe).
The anthology Made in Delco — a collection of short comics he wrote about life in Delaware County — was successfully Kickstarted with 149 backers and $3,950 raised.
In December 2025, Gaspero won the Summit Comics first-ever Writer Talent Search out of 145 entrants. His winning entry was a 2-page origin script for a character designed by Summit artist Pete Collins.
His biggest credit to date is Penny and the Yeti (Papercutz, April 2026) — his debut graphic novel, illustrated by Amber Akin with letters by Buddy Beaudoin. The story originated in the summer of 2022 from an idea Jimmy developed alongside his daughter Penny, then age 5. The story follows a girl named Penny whose best friend is a Yeti who came to life from her older sister’s drawings. With Yeti’s help, Penny tries to get her arguing parents back on the same page. The book is 128 pages, available in hardcover and paperback.
Gaspero co-hosts the Cryptid Creator Corner podcast alongside Comic Book Yeti Editor-in-Chief Byron O’Neal. The show won the Grantie Award in both 2022 and 2023.
