About Marcelo Ferreira
Marcelo Ferreira built his comics career the long way: years of drawing, a decade of professional illustration and art teaching in Brazil, a portfolio review at New York Comic-Con in 2010, and then the first real break with Richie Rich in 2011. What followed was not an overnight superhero jump but a steady climb through all-ages and licensed comics, especially at IDW, where he worked on Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, and Angry Birds vs. Transformers before arriving at Marvel in 2018.
That path helps explain why Ferreira’s pages feel so intentional. On Splash Pages, he describes page layout as “the whole engineering of the thing,” and that is the real key to his work. Whether he is staging Predator carnage, Spider-Man motion, or a quieter dialogue scene, the emphasis is always on clarity, surprise, and the reader having a distinct experience from page to page.
Since becoming a Marvel exclusive in 2019, Ferreira has become one of the publisher’s most effective action storytellers, especially on books that need both velocity and control. Predator vs. Spider-Man, Predator Kills the Marvel Universe, and Punisher: War of the Realms are the obvious headline credits, but the interview also highlights the deeper range behind them: franchise continuity on Back to the Future, cartoon energy on Ghostbusters, and a visual philosophy rooted as much in design as in spectacle.
