Rio Youers

Rio Youers is a British-born, Canadian-based author of horror and dark fantasy. His novels include The Forgotten Girl, Lola on Fire, and The Bang-Bang Sisters. In 2020, Youers made his comics debut by adapting Stephen King and Owen King’s Sleeping Beauties into a 10-issue series for IDW Publishing with artist Alison Sampson and colorist Triona Tree Farrell. The adaptation required condensing a 700-page novel into approximately 200 pages of sequential art — a challenge Youers navigated by capturing the essence of the story while making creative choices that gave the comic its own identity. Both Stephen and Owen King praised the adaptation, and the series was collected in two hardcover graphic novels.
